LIFE IN THE WAR ZONE: 16 YEAR OLD MIAMI KID HACKS SCHOOL INTERNET

A 16-year old kid got busted for hacking into the fourth largest school system in the United States.

In a nutshell, cops arrested the student from South Miami High School after going to his family's home in Miami's Flagami section sometime around 3:00AM Thursday and catching him.

According to the Miami Herald, the kid confessed but didn't have a motive. Apparently his parents had no clue and were very upset.

HUH?

Yeah, I know. The internet and everything about it is a very mysterious thing in the eyes of many.  I've worked in the industry for a while and understand what bandwidth is, among other things. But a lot of people I know, even if they own every gadget under the sun, usually have no clue as to how the whole "internet" works. Because as long as it works, they don't care.

So imagine the last couple of days in Miami in which students and teachers were blocked from online learning, with little they could to do help themselves. Yeah, in the fourth largest school system in the US, in a city where high tech runs everything in those glass towers of power.

Covid 19 has caused untold grief for folks all over the world. But this was another kind of grief. It happened when people were attempting to do something to get past the grief Covid 19 had wrought.

Worse, when you think that a 16-year old punk can do this, imagine what else can ensue.  There were multiple attacks, and apparently this bozo is responsible for eight of them. I use the word "bozo" loosely because hackers are usually pretty intelligent folks who can do a lot of good and bad when given the opportunity. But he is a bozo just the same.

It's unclear who else helped this clown along. And since he's a juvenile he's not likely to do hard time. I'm thinking that once it blows over some company like Google or Facebook or Twitter will be calling on this dude and offer him a pretty sizable salary to prevent others from attacking them.

Right now everyone is working out what other entities got their mitts into this fiasco. Apparently it's not the first time some kid tried this in Miami nor will it be the last. And though officials say the kid didn't penetrate servers or jeopardize data, he did irritate a bunch of school kids, teachers and a huge city system.

At the moment the schools are going back to using other platforms like Microsoft Teams and Zoom to get by. The kid is in the hands of his parents.

Hopefully the parents will take away his phone, his computer and make sure he can't do any more harm. Yeah, right, the same duo who had no clue that their bundle of joy was raising hell all over town from the privacy of his bedroom.

Wear the masks, people, wear the masks.
