MIAMI MOANS: LIFE IN THE WAR ZONE THE MOUSE AND THE LOUSE

So what you got going, Rhode Island? You doing some work for the mouse? 

Apparently some residents of the Biggest Little got tax refund checks with a small surprise -- they were signed by either Mickey Mouse or Mickey's father, Walt Disney.

I wish I was kidding. But no.

I'm going to give you a little time to absorb this. If you know anything about Rhode Island, it would not surprise you. And again, I'm not kidding. They are calling it a misprint.

Got that for the moment? Now shift your thoughts to Florida, home of Disney World and a major hangout for the mouse. (Okay, it's a weak segue but humor me.)

The Sun Sentinel, a newspaper which covers Fort Lauderdale and other parts of South Florida, had something to say over the weekend with respect to Governor Ron DeSantis.  

The editorial board of The Sun Sentinel called for DeSantis to issue a statewide mask mandate. Yep, it seems the news folks are bent out of shape about the increasing cases of Covid 19. Yikes, I managed to write over ten lines before I mentioned Covid 19. This could be a record for me.

"Help us out, Gov. DeSantis. We're Dying Here" is the title of the editorial.  

I'm not sure how much I can add to that title, or anyone else for that matter.

"Help us all out. Far better that you require people to wear masks in public than to continue fostering conditions that will force another shutdown." This is a direct quote from the editorial. 

According to a recent Quinniac poll quoted in the press, 79 percent of Floridians support the use of masks as a requirement.  Is that a mandate? That's the question asked by The Sun Sentinel and countless others. That includes me.

More than 7100 Floridians have died because of  Covid 19.  Records are set every day, it seems. The Sun Sentinel called DeSantis' upbeat daily missives as being "hopelessly at odds with what Floridians are going through." Yeah, Floridians are dying, dude, dying. 

Are you getting that? 

Wear the damn masks, people, wear the damn masks.
