LIFE IN THE WAR ZONE: FLORIDA NOW A RED ZONE???
Up to a few weeks ago, when somebody talked about a RED state or a BLUE state it referred to the political leanings of the state's population.
RED states were primarily Republican, BLUE states primarily Democrat, in case this has slipped your mind.
Simple.
Not anymore. It appears that the Center for Disease Control (CDC) has a new report in which red speaks about Covid 19 - and how a certain number of states are considered in a Red Zone.
According to the report (see illustration) CDC recommends that those red states should consider rolling back reopening measures because cases are surging. In other words we have a boatload of new cases and should hold back on those reopenings.
The CDC prepared the 359 page report for the White House Coronavirus Task Force. The report was obtained by the Center for Public Integrity a "nonprofit newsroom" per this screen shot from cbslocal.com , the CBS affiliate in Miami.
The report defines a red zone as statistical areas which reported new cases above 100 per 100,000 population and diagnostic positive results above 10 percent.
Recommendations are what you would expect: residents should wear masks at all times, maintain physical distance, close bars and gyms and limit social gatherings to less than 10 persons.

Florida is now what I'm calling a double red state, one definition for political leanings and the other for the hike in Covid 19 cases.
Both honors are dubious depending on your point of view. Not going there right now.
What I am going to say is what I've been saying from the onset: Wear the damn masks, people, wear the damn masks.
